Intimate Partner Counseling

Couples Counseling
Provided by Drs. Brittany Escuriex, Marlene Williams, & Alexavery Hawkins

Our romantic partnerships are often the place where we find our greatest peace and support, yet these intimate relationships can also experience periods of conflict and disconnection. When working with couples, we start from the foundational belief that we all desire connection and validation, while holding that it is natural for couples to experience periods when they feel out of sync. Couples might consider counseling after major transitions or changes within the relationship, when they find themselves stuck in a pattern they cannot get out of, or even at times when partners wonder if the relationship should continue. We honor any stage a couple finds themselves in, and we are dedicated to working toward the healthiest outcome for each individual, and the relationship as a whole.

We work with couples from an Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, which views relational conflict as the result of disconnection between individuals who are doing the best they can in a tough situation. Within EFT, we view the couple as the client, so there is no one partner to “blame” or one “bad” partner who needs to change. Instead, we get to know your inner workings as a couple and help you to develop new ways of relating to one another that help you feel connected, valued, and inspired about your relationship.

We welcome and affirm all couples and intimate partner relationships, independent of identity and number of partners.

Please feel free to reach out to Dr. Brittany Escuriex, Dr. Marlene Williams, or Dr. Alexavery Hawkins if you would like to schedule a complimentary phone consultation.
