My journey to become a psychologist was somewhat unconventional. My career began as a mechanical engineer and product design engineer here in Dallas. After some reflection and reconsideration of what I value and find meaningful, I was drawn to the field of social work and worked internationally to support the education of women and girls. It was through this experience that I came to more deeply connect with cross-cultural psychology, the impact of oppression, as well as Eastern healing practices. After returning from living overseas I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. I completed both my Master’s and Doctorate at Texas Woman’s University, focusing on feminist and multicultural perspectives, social justice, and advocacy. In addition to my role as a therapist, I have conducted qualitative research on mindfulness meditation in order to better understand the therapeutic benefits and underlying mechanisms of change behind ancient meditation practices. I am an avid meditator myself and believe that my own practice is essential in increasing my presence and attunement with clients.
As a psychologist, I believe in the power and sacredness of the therapeutic relationship. Let’s be honest, being human can be hard. My approach to therapy involves being with you in all of your humanness. I strive to create a space where all of you is welcome, where you may discover, connect with and give voice to the many parts of yourself, without fear of judgment. I believe that the process towards wholeness involves reclaiming what may have been lost, denied or buried away, and realizing new and unexplored parts of oneself. In working with me, your story, your needs, your darkest hours and brightest moments take center stage. I believe that you hold the wisdom of healing within you. I strive to work collaboratively with you to access this wisdom, to increase your capacity to lean into the hard stuff, and aim to move at a pace that supports trust, awareness, growth, and insight. I believe that the therapeutic process should unfold slowly and naturally as we build our relationship, and you are able to discover your own inner resources while also experiencing safety and healing through our connection.
I believe that we each have an inherent capacity to heal and grow when provided the right environment and support. While it may seem paradoxical, I believe that being accepted for who we are right now, as we are, allows us to move towards who we want to be. My hope for our work is that you feel fully heard, seen and accepted while also feeling driven to make intentional changes in your life. I hope to support you through warmth, empathy, curiosity, and compassion, and hope to help you discover what makes you feel joyful and alive. I truly see it as a privilege to be in this role and would be honored to join you in your return to wholeness.
